Perhaps over a grandé mocha nonfat latte, it is useful to consider the insight that created today's fabulously successful Starbucks.
Interestingly, the alternatives suggested by the mythical journey do not get us there: market analysis cannot be credited with helping Howard Schultz discover the opportunity in Starbucks. Daily per capita coffee consumption in the United States had declined from 3.1 cups in the 1960s to 2 cups when Schultz was assembling the ingredients for Starbucks.
