"Bar Semente ("Seed Bar") first became known as a health food restaurant, but after changing hands, started hosting music events, following in the bohemian past of the neighborhood called "Lapa."
Lapa was at the core of Rio's cultural life in the early 20th century, witnessing and fomenting the development of music genres such as samba and choro. By the turn of the century, however, Lapa had fallen into disrepair and was completely excluded from the city's cultural scene. Bar Semente suffered from this decline and closed its doors in 2002.

Entrepreneurs Are Gardeners
Music entrepreneur Aline Brufato sees entrepreneurs as gardeners. "If you are a gardener," she says, "you will be familiar with the relationship of circumstances and the actions you take to cultivate your beloved plants. It starts with the seeds (or seedlings), which require the gardener to take control and plant them in the soil."
Regardless of the season and the weather, there is the work of tending to your plants: watering, fertilizing, moving potted plants to balance growth toward the sun, pruning back long growth to increase the mass of foliage, etc. Gardeners, like entrepreneurs, consider the environment and soil needed to nurture change."
