Chapter 23 Social Change and Markets in Human Hope (pp. 391 to 424)

"Ronni Kahn, the queen of the Australian promotional events scene, established OzHarvest in 2004 with a seemingly simple mission: to stop good food from going to waste. In the meantime, her social venture has become an influential force in addressing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Kahn's journey exemplifies the concept of the butterfly effect in social entrepreneurship, where a small initiative aimed at reducing food waste has cascaded into significant impacts across various critical areas of human and environmental well-being.

          Food for Thought
Ronni Kahn ran a successful events company and was increasingly disturbed by the amount of still fresh and safe food being thrown away by the hospitality industry. Motivated by a desire to reduce waste, she began by redistributing surplus food from her company to homeless shelters. One thing led to another, and over time she found herself rescuing food from other caterers, supermarkets, farmers, and food manufacturers.
What started as "doing the right thing" became her sole focus and led her to found OzHarvest. Her approach was not about meticulously planned outcomes, but about starting with available means and allowing the pathway to emerge organically."
