Chapter 9 The Effectual Logic of Expert Entrepreneurs (pp. 136-152)

"Growing up, did you always understand the guidance of your mother? Wendy McNaughton didn't. Only later did she appreciate her mother's advice: "In life you have a basket, and you walk along with your basket, and you have all these experiences, and you put your experiences in the basket. And then eventually you get to the place you're going, and you have all of these riches that you didn't expect. And that is what you have to work with in your life."
In fact, Wendy attributes her success as an artist to that "basket": "There's no way I could be doing the work I'm doing without having gone through all of that.""

          Sketchy Start
After getting a fine arts degree, when Wendy was working as a copywriter in an advertising agency in San Francisco, California, she spent her long commute on public transport sketching fellow commuters. Eventually she worked up the courage to start sharing those drawings online, turning her singular journey into a shared one."
